More Crochet Stitches

To practice these crochet stitches, grab your crochet hook and some scraps of yarn!  When you start each stitch, you should have one loop on your hook from the previous stitch.

Half-Triple Crochet (htr) [UK – Half Double Treble (hdt)]

  • Yarn over twice.  Insert hook into the top loop of the next stitch/next opening.
  • Yarn over and pull through (4 loops on hook)
  • Yarn over and pull through first two loops on the hook (3 loops on hook).
  • Yarn over and pull through all three loops on hook (1 loop left on hook)

Triple Crochet (tr) [UK – Double Treble Crochet (dtr)]

  • Yarn over twice.  Insert hook into the top loop of the next stitch/next opening.
  • Yarn over and pull through. (4 loops on hook)
  • Yarn over and pull through first two loops on the hook (3 loops on hook).
  • Yarn over and pull through next two loops on hook (2 loops on hook)
  • Yarn over and pull through last two loops on hook (1 loop left on hook)

  • Yarn over three times.  Insert hook into the top loop of the next stitch/next opening.
  • Yarn over and pull through.  (5 loops on hook)
  • Yarn over and pull through first two loops on the hook (4 loops on hook).
  • Yarn over and pull through next two loops on the hook (3 loops on hook).
  • Yarn over and pull through all three loops on hook (1 loop left on hook)

Double Treble Crochet (dtr) [UK – Triple Treble Crochet (ttr)]

  • Yarn over twice.  Insert hook into the top loop of the next stitch/next opening.
  • Yarn over and pull through. (5 loops on hook)
  • Yarn over and pull through first two loops on the hook (4 loops on hook).
  • Yarn over and pull through first two loops on the hook (3 loops on hook).
  • Yarn over and pull through next two loops on hook (2 loops on hook)
  • Yarn over and pull through last two loops on hook (1 loop left on hook)
